Room in the Middle is Filipe's debut album as a leader.
The compositions feature intense, through-composed, sections side by side with freer parts of collective improvisation.
Filipe's writing proposes new roles for each member of the quartet, with concepts like melody, solo and accompaniment often left intentionally undefined.
The result is a very personal and sophisticated sonic experience that defies categorization and is sure to keep listeners on their toes.
